The Henry Ford is a place like no other! This is a place filled with once in a lifetime experiences. It includes the Museum, the Ford Rouge Factory tour, and Greenfield Village.
In the Museum you will feel a sense of awe as you enter the sweeping, single-floor space with its’ soaring 40 foot ceilings and nine acres dedicated to showcasing the finest collection of its kind ever assembled. See the limousine that John F. Kennedy was riding on that dark day in November in 1963, the actual bus that Rose Parks rode in, the chair that Abraham Lincoln was sitting in when he was shot by John Wilkes Booth, the Sikorsky VS300A helicopter, and a drive-in theatre. This is just a partial list of the exciting activities you will be able to enjoy.
The Henry Ford is about history, but it’s about the future too! Tour the Ford Rouge Factory, a self-guided five-part experience that includes the Legacy Theatre, Art of Manufacturing Theater, and a 360 degree look at how automobiles are made. View the ground breaking living roof from our 80 foot high observation deck. See where the new Ford F-150s are assembled in the manufacturing plant from an elevated walkway. View five historic vehicles made at the Rouge in the Legacy Gallery.
Greenfield Village is truly a national historic gem! You will feel like you are stepping into the 19th and early 20th century. Tour the homes of those who have made our country great! Feel the excitement of Civil War battle reenactments and experience at 1867 baseball game. There are 83 authentic, historic structures including the Thomas Edison’s Menlo Park laboratory, Noah Webster’s home, and the courthouse where Abraham Lincoln practiced law. The buildings, artifacts, and other reenactments are only the beginning. Take a ride in a Model T, “pull glass” with world-class artisans, or ride the ornately carved 1913 carousel. It’s a place where you can choose your lunch from an 1850s menu and spend a quiet moment exploring the home and workshop where the Wright brothers invented the airplane. Ride the old fashion Weiser Railroad, which is the oldest, continuous operating steam engine in the US. This engine pulls covered, open air cars that allow great views as the train loops around Greenfield Village, making key stops throughout. This village is a great place for a day of learning, relaxing, and even recreation.
All the activities of the Henry Ford are included with your tour. You will explore the museum, tour the Ford Rouge Factory including the F-150 production facility, and wander throughout Greenfield Village, complete with Model T, carousel, and train rides.
