All aboard on the Little River Railroad, a scenic train ride out of Coldwater, MI. View the beautiful scenery while riding in enclosed historic old fashion train cars pulled by the 1911 steam engine. Unwind and enjoy the sights and sounds traveling in the smallest standard gauge Pacific Steam Locomotive ever built. This 1-1/2 hour trip through Coldwater Country takes you across the oldest railroad line in Michigan. The Little River Railroad is dedicated to the restoration and operation of historic railroad equipment. Their mission is to keep steam locomotives alive for future generations. OY Rive 

On the way to lunch, we’ll stop at Betty’s Amish Country Bakery. This gem is owned by an Amish woman who eschews electricity and instead uses kerosene-heated stoves to make her wonderful baked goods, including breads, caramel corn, pies, cakes and big chewy cookies. 

Next, enjoy a huge variety of country home cookin’ at the buffet in the Outpost Grill, where patterned curtains hang from the windows, and antiques decorate the entryway. This place is country kitchen charming, just what you would expect of a restaurant standing in the middle of an antique wonderland that is Allen, MI. is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the restoration and operation of historic railroad 

Finally, you are free to wander around and shop in the “ANTIQUE CAPITOL OF MICHIGAN!” It’s said that if you stopped at each of the booths housed in these immense buildings and the small stores that brim with antiques for just one minute each, it would take more than three days to visit them all. You will visit the Allen Antique Barn, the Hog Creek Craft & Antique Shop, the Allen Antique Mall, and Preston’s Antique Gaslight Village. You’ll also get 10% off all of your purchases!!! With antiques galore, the Hog Creek Craft & Antique Mall has part of the 23,000 square feet that is focused solely on crafts. Preston’s Antique Gaslight Village has historical buildings that have been moved from other locations within 50 miles of Allen. They have been restored and now house antiques. There are schools, an Art Deco gazebo, a farm house that is nearly 150 years old and several churches, including one that belonged to an abolitionist who helped shelter escaping slaves on their way along the Underground Railroad.
