Branson, MO – We kick off our Southern Comfort Explorer Tour with a night of shootin’, ridin, ropin’, singin’ and eatin’ with some tasty vittles in one of our favorite cities Branson, Missouri. We will take in a dinner show, Dixieland Stampede. Enjoy some down home southern hospitality and call it a night as we have a Texas trail to blaze in the morning.

Dallas, TX – The Big D is home to the George W Bush Presidential Library. Situated on the beautiful campus of SMU we will spend a morning getting to know the man that would lead us through one of our country’s darkest times and one of our worst natural disasters. Try your hand in the Decision Points Theatre, where you choose from one of four different scenarios, from Katrina to Iraq. You make the decisions based on conflicting available information. Touch steel from the World Trade Center, view the “I can hear you” bull horn used at Ground Zero. The technology at this library and museum will be in sharp contrast to another library later in the trip.

Austin, TX – Home to our 36th president’s Library, The Lyndon Baines Johnson Presidential Library. Greeting you will be the 1968 Black Stretch Presidential Limousine used by President Johnson, a much more modest limousine than “The Beast” in current use, not bullet proof nor bomb proof. Johnson was also a president who experienced tragedy shortly after taking the office of Vice President of the United States. View the November 23, 1963 exhibit. Listen to LBJ conversations with Martin Luther King Jr. following the assassination of President John F Kennedy, pay attention there could be a link to a later part of the trip. View the desk where LBJ signed the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Did you know LBJ passed the legislation requiring seat belts in automobiles?

San Antonio, TX – It’s Fiesta in San Antonio! A bucket list item! From your hotel near the Riverwalk to the Alamo this city will not disappoint. San Antonio, one of our tour’s southern comforts yet a rallying point in American history. You will enjoy a step on guided tour to visit the Mission and also bask in the celebration of Fiesta! A 127 year old tradition that started as the simple act of decorating baby buggies with flowers that ended in women throwing flowers at each other. Leave it to the feisty state of Texas to make it an annual celebration! Enjoy your included river taxi combo ticket to take you all over downtown from the Riverwalk to the Pearl District, chart your own course. San Antonio at Fiesta is like Mardi Gras in New Orleans, seize the opportunity to explore your interest- museums, shopping, restaurants, music it is all at your finger tips.

Houston, TX – We will make an evening stop at The Bay of Galveston to walk the Kemah Boardwalk, take a ride up the Boardwalk Tower to soak in all Galveston Bay has to offer. Take a whirl on a double-decker carousel. Tomorrow we blast off to The Johnson NASA Space Center. We will see space history as well as future technology.

New Orleans, LA – History, music, architecture, street cars and wonderful food and drink! Beignets, café au lait, pralines, gumbo, crawfish etouffee, red beans and rice, a cool hurricane or a Scarlet O’Hara, (Made with Southern Comfort) in hand with sultry street jazz, welcome to The Big Easy. From historic to hip New Orleans has the sights, sounds and flavors unlike any other American city. Grab yourself a map and plot your adventure with your included Hop On Hop Off one day pass there will be free time for independent experiences. Tour the WWII memorial, Mardi Gras World admissions not included. Visit the French Quarter, make your own pub crawl with jazz and blues from morning to really early morning. There is no better place than the City That Care Forgot. We will enjoy a boat ride and meal down the mighty Mississippi aboard a signature river boat.

Memphis, TN – What southern comfort tour would be complete without hanging our hat in the great state of Tennessee? Memphis the capital of southern soul music and BBQ! We will share some Memphis BBQ and maybe stroll down Beale Street for some southern mood music. As we depart in the morning our final stop will be, The National Civil Right Museum and the Lorraine Motel, the site of the assassination of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. in 1968. Through interactive exhibits and historic collections, the museum offers visitors a chance to walk through history and learn more about a tumultuous and inspiring period of change.
