Our day of Frank Lloyd Wright begins in Oak Park, Illinois; home to Wright’s Home and Studio as well as Unity Temple. A guided tour of Unity Temple displays what was considered at the time an inappropriate material for a house of worship-reinforced concrete! The temple is considered to be one of Wright’s most important structures and one of the first modern buildings in the world. Now, let’s see how the architect lived with our guided interior tour of Wright’s home and studio, essentially the laboratories of the architect! Hyde Park is home to the Robie House, our final Frank Lloyd Wright tour of the day. It is Wright’s best known Prairie style structure and the icon of modern architecture utilizing native Midwest materials.
Know Before You Go: The FLW Home and the Robie House involves stairs to see the entire structure. The FLW Studio, Unity Temple, first floor of Robie and grounds are wheelchair accessible.
