Bob and Ron’s Overnight Extravaganza – August 31-September 1, 2020

MONDAY – TUESDAY

AUGUST 31 – SEPTEMBER 1, 2020

Depart Lafayette 7:00 AM, Lebanon 7:30 AM and Indianapolis 8:00 AM.

Includes motorcoach transportation, 1 night lodging, 5 meals (2 breakfasts, 2 lunches & 1 dinner), admissions per itinerary, Ron Larsen for your driver and Bob Betty for your escort.

Hop on board for another not-to-be-missed extravaganza as we head to Carillon Historical Park’s museum complex which showcases the region’s history, industrial innovations, transportation achievements, and much more. While in the park, you may get a glimpse of the bald eagles that live in the park and had babies right inside the park last spring. You may tour the beautifully restored turn-of-the century train cars, as well as browse the many other museum buildings worthy of exploration at your leisure, or you may want to stay inside and ride the authentically restored carousel or enjoy the shopping or the countless collections and artifacts.

Next you’ll be heading to Dayton’s tallest building that houses the famous Racquet Club located atop the Stratacache Tower on the 29th floor of the magnificent Kettering Building —Dayton’s premier address. Here you’ll enjoy unsurpassed views of Dayton and surrounding areas, and you’ll enjoy lunch in this outstanding restaurant that maintains a refined tone and the highest standards of quality offering you fine dining and luxurious cuisine — a lunch you won’t forget.

After a fabulous lunch, we’re heading to America’s Packard Museum in Dayton, Ohio. The museum’s founder and curator, Robert Signom, painstakingly rehabilitated the dealership into its original Art Deco grandeur. The museum has received many awards and is listed as one of the Top Ten automotive museums by the Car Collector magazine. More than 50 cars are on display from 1900s Brass Era to the streamlined classic cars of the 30s and 40s, and modern Packards of the 50s, as well as war machines, parts, accessories, and original sales and service literature.

Then it’s time to sit back for a short ride to see the Henn Murals in Franklin, Ohio. These trompe-l’oeil murals brilliantly depict nostalgic scenes of a small town’s history and heritage. These are truly exceptional murals. Bring your cameras to capture this unusual small town’s incredible art.

After a short ride, the beautiful Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg will welcome you for an overnight stay. The casino is one where you win every time (just kidding; only Bob wins every time)!  You’ll enjoy dinner in one of two hotel restaurants in the evening and a delicious breakfast buffet the next morning before heading out to Greensburg, Indiana — a town most well known for a tree growing out of the top of the courthouse. However, that is only part of the charm. You will want to explore Greensburg’s city square and the quaint shops, such as a vintage antique shop, quilt shop, books and gifts shop, small flea market, and more. For lunch you may take your choice of several great little restaurants around the square.

This is an all-inclusive, selective-walking, out-of-this-world trip. Sign up early because there is only one Bob and Ron extravaganza trip this year.
