Kentucky State BBQ Festival and the Celebrity Pitmasters– Things get smoking hot at the Wilderness Trail Distillery. Held in a picturesque, shaded, lush historic setting you will find great music, food, beer and bourbon at this signature event.

Bluegrass Scenic Railway– Enjoy an 11 mile, ninety minute round trip train ride through the horse farms of Central Kentucky. The train then descends through deep limestone cuts to the palisades of the Kentucky River where you may disembark and photograph Young’s High Bridge built in 1889 and see the Wild Turkey Distillery.

The Old Kentucky Capitol– A National Historic Landmark that served as Kentucky’s capitol until 1910. We will learn about the intrigue and violence surrounding the 1900 gubernatorial election. Marvel at architecture which is the first major work of native Kentuckian, Gideon Shryock. The architectural style of the building is significant as it represents the introduction of the Greek Revival style into Kentucky and the pioneering west.

The Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History– Tour “A Kentucky Journey” and discover the stories of the people, places and events of Kentucky history – including a little mystery. No matter where you’re from, we’re confident you have a Kentucky connection. Take the “journey” and find yours.

The Floral Clock– One of Kentucky’s most visited attractions. This fully functioning clock measures at 34 feet in diameter and has been featured on HGTV’s Great American Gardens.

Kentucky Horse Park-The only park of its kind in the world, the Kentucky Horse Park is a working horse farm, educational theme park and equine competition facility. Set on more than 1,200 acres in the heart of the Kentucky’s famous Bluegrass Region, the park is THE place to get close to horses! Featuring dozens of breeds of horses at work and play, the park showcases the horse in daily equine presentations, horse drawn tours and more.

Kentucky Crafts Town, Berea KY– A town and college rich with Appalachian history, artistry and crafts. We will enjoy an evening of musical entertainment by local musicians. For an additional fee of $50.00 you can enroll in a 2.5-3 hour class lead by a seasoned artisan the morning of Saturday, September 7, 2019 for a Make and Take in Old Town Berea. Class sizes are limited so make selections early. The selections are: Blown glass- where you will blow a Christmas ornament. Can-tar- using a wooden fretted neck and a can you create a Can-tar and learn a song to play. Jewelry- hammering and polishing metal into jewelry set. Wood craft- you will craft a bird house with reclaimed wood and a KY license plate. Basket making- you will weave an egg basket using various colors of reed. For the non-crafters, we will keep you busy browsing and shopping the artisan shops of Berea!
