What was once an innocent challenge of two car owners in the early 1900’s has become the World’s largest antique vehicle competition event, and the third largest motorsports event in Indiana. Imperial Travel is taking you to Newport for a fun filled racing Sunday. Now in its 53rd consecutive year under the sponsorship of the Newport Lions Club, the festival re-creates the original Newport Hill Climbs of 1909-1915, a proving ground for early auto makers, including the Chevrolet Brothers. Now featuring 31 classes of timed competition runs over the 1800-foot-long, 140-foot-high Newport Hill. More than 300 cars, trucks and motorcycles from the pre-World War II era including brass, steam, vintage, antique and classic are expected. You will also enjoy a classic car show, flea market and end the day with dinner at the Covington Beef House.
