Get ready to experience Lexington’s number one attraction, the Kentucky Horse Park. Take a walking tour of the barns where you will meet the Kentucky Horse Park Mounted Police, tour the blacksmith facility and don’t miss the International Museum of the Horse. The Hall of Champions is also included with your admission; watch prized thoroughbreds captivate the crowd. You can also take an included carriage ride pulled by draft horses for a brief overview of the park.

Dessert before dinner never hurt anyone! We will take a hands-on tour of the Old KY Chocolates factory in Lexington, KY. See up close how chocolates are made and you can even eat one right off the conveyor belt like Lucille Ball!!!! Dinner tonight will be at one of Lexington’s local restaurants serving some Southern favorites.

Rise and shine! We are off to the Battle of Richmond Visitors Center; housed in the historic 1811 Rogers House is like no other Civil War Visitors Center in the nation. The home was surrounded by some of the most intense fighting during the Civil War in Kentucky. Legend has it that some of the visible brick repair on the south side of house may have been the result of Confederate artillery fire!

The Historic Boone Tavern Inn, an establishment known for fine southern cuisine will be our stop for lunch in downtown Berea, Ky. In the 1930s, the Boone Tavern was featured in Duncan Hines, Adventures in Good Eating guidebooks as it was a popular destination during the beginning of the “automobile” age!

We travel on to Cumberland Falls State Resort Park and the beautiful DuPont Lodge. You will see the “NIAGARA OF THE SOUTH”, the 125 foot wide curtain of water that plunges 7 stories into a boulder-strewn gorge, a dramatic sight day or night. The DuPont Lodge is one of the most beautiful state park lodges with its solid hemlock beams and massive fireplaces. The park naturalist will provide a presentation of the falls as well as a shuttle to the falls for up-close day time viewing. Enjoy an included dinner buffet at your leisure and make the most of the summer evening at the lodge.

We begin our journey home with a hearty breakfast buffet and say good bye to the DuPont Lodge. We head south to Stearns, KY for our train ride aboard the “Big South Fork Scenic Railway.” This is a breath-taking scenic ride through the Daniel Boone National Forest with a stop for an included lunch at the Blue Herron coal mining camp. Hear stories from the actual voices of what it was like back then! Afterwards, you can tour the McCreary County Museum.

Come join us and experience Kentucky’s natural wonders and view once in a lifetime sights.
